Bobbing (chopping) a Dakota truckbed
Has anyone bobbed their truckbed for their Dakota? I am very interested in doing this to my 03 4x4 SLT dak. We all know the thing is too long.
The biggest issue is how much can you take off before the frame structure is compromised. The spare can be put in the bed. but can i just chop it to about where the leafspring shackles are? can i mount the bumper to the opposite side of the shackles? and the hitch - where should i put it?
Thanks

Why would you want to go out of your way to get a smaller, less functional truck. I mean, you buy a truck for the truck bed and the ability to haul stuff with it, right? ... otherwise you could just get a car.
i would do this because i want to. also, i want to be able to manouver in small spaces more easily. the intention is to improve parking visibility and to eventually make this an off-road rig.
