Well, for starters, you could swap in the 4.7, 5.2, and the 5.9L motors from any of the other 2nd Gen Dak's.....as they all were available in the Dakota.
I've seen a 5.9L swapped into a 3.9L dog house. The big thing is motor mounts, engine computers, wiring, and tranny...
Im no expert on the 2.5 turbo, but I would think that that small of an engine would have a hard time getting this truck moving. The 2.5 would be EXTREMELY slow until it got spooled up. So I would just go with a 5.2, 360, or if your in the mood, build a 426.
dont put the 2.5 in it. trust me i have one and its slow....if it were me i would go with the 360. dont waste your time with a 318...or... twin turbo a 4.7l. that would be the ****
