Disable automatic locks
Need heep. I was to disable the automatic locks on my 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport. I tried to take it to the dealer and of course it will cost an arm and a leg. I am thinking there shoud not be to much to it. According to the manual it said the truck should have been set up with the auto locks disabled when it left the factory.
This is what I found in a service manual for my 3rd Gen Ram:
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS
When the automatic door locks are ENABLED the door locks will lock when the vehicle is moving at about 25.7 Km/h (15 mph), all doors are closed and the accelerator pedal is depressed. This feature can be switched ON or OFF as desired. When the system is DISABLED the door locks will operate normally, but will not lock automatically when the vehicle is
rolling. Once the automatic door locks have been actuated, they will not try to lock the doors again until a door is opened.
AUTOMATIC (ROLLING) LOCKS
The rolling locks feature can be toggled ON/OFFby using the DRB III
only.
Here's what a DRB III is:
So it looks like a dealer visit is nessecary.
I for one would like them enabled, my brother's truck (04 QC Cummins) has them enabled and I like the idea.
Grass is always greener right??
