does anyone know what could be causing my reverse "backup" lights not too work?? I checked the fuses and they are all good and replaced both bulbs with new ones I have heard it could be the tranny safety switch is off? I have a 2000 dakota 3.9
thanks for your time
When that happened to my old Jetta it was a melted wire harness on the tranny (from the reverse switch). I'd start by looking at wires, fuses, and the switch on the tranny itself.
The reverse switch is also known as a neutral safety switch. If it is not positioned right, it will not activate the reverse lights. Hopefully it is this, because it is a simple adjustment to fix.
