Default "01 Dakota 4x4 lower balljoint replacement

Hi, Has anyone done the lower ball joint replacement job on a 2000 or newer 4x4? I need to do mine and was wondering what kind of project it is. My HAYES book says the ball joints come with the control arms, Can't I just get the ball joints seperate and put them in the old control arms? How hard is it to press them in with leaving the control arms still attached to the suspension? Thanks for the help.

I remember reading about the ball joints on the newer (well, 1997-2004) Dakota's ball joints. I think it was the lower ball joints were rivited in (but I'm not for sure).
You can buy just the ball joints. Napa, OReilly, Autozone, etc. all carry them. Expect between $60-75 each (I have heard a lot of good about MOOG, and OReilly carries them)
As far as how hard the job is, I woudn't know. Sorry.
