I looked at that one you posted there on ebay but chose to go with a full unit from Airaid, that one on ebay was about the best for the price they have a few for about $25 but they don't use a K&N filter and in the end you get what you pay for.....in the case of this one you will be sucking in hot air off the engine and the metal tubing will pick up heat if not insulated....then on the other hand any after market intake is better than the stock box
I agree with Lil. I made my own intake using a cone filter, some stainless bends and silicon rubber couplings and it really made a differance. Responce is far better and you get a loverly growl from under the hood. The only down side is that when you get stuck in traffic and the engine bay heats up, you can feel the power drop off and the responce gets a bit "woolly" but as soon as you get moving again and things cool down, its back to its glorious self! I haven't tried insulating the pipes (which can get so hot, you can't touch them) so that might be something to try soon.
The kit shown on E-Bay is one of the better ones, as it actually uses a K+N filter AND has provision for the breather pipe. Most don't, which apart from being illegal, makes a mess of your engine bay. I would go for it and if you can't live with the occasional "fluffy" moment, go for a bespoke item, you won't have lost much!
Enjoy,
Paul

i agree with everything above, i suggested the kit on ebay because its probably better then anything the guy could make himself. personally im going to hold out and get a K&N. Lil, why did you go with the airraid over the K&N?
i just checked into it a bit and they both seem to be about the same price (about $200) except the K&N comes with a heat shield and shows an extra 2HP on the dyno chart

I wanted to be a Rebel hehe.......honestly I like the fact that the airaid sit on top of the stock box instead of with K&N you have to remove the stock box so it was a design pref. and I never 100% trust a manufactures dyno stats.....they like to embellish them a bit.
thanks lil, i looked at both pretty closely and never saw that the airaid sat on top of the stock airbox. i just bought one for my truck :-)

When i put my CAI together, I did it in stages as the filter arrived before the pipework and I wanted to experiment. I removed the air-box and fitted the filter to the hose that went to the air-box. The differance was barely noticeable. There wasn't much power differance and you couldn't hear anything either. When the pipework arrived, I removed the big plastic box that joins on to the throttle body. The differance was astonishing. It seems that most of the restriction is in the box which I've learned is a silencer for the intake. Any replacement system that uses ANY of the old air-box will still be using the "silencer", so the gains will be minimal. The choice is yours!

hey paul this airaid kit replaces the tubing from the intake to the airbox and basicly just uses the stock airbox as a heat shield. as far as parts go it replaces the same stuff the K&N kit does
Congrates kurbycar32 I am sure you will be most happy with your choice I know I am very happy with my Airaid kit......FYI if you need EPA stickers or any help on the install just call Airaid @800-498-6951 and talk to Ryan in customer/technical support he is most helpful, my stickers were missing and he sent free ones to me overnight.
I can't wait till you get it installed and punch the gas and you will go........OMG this is badass hehe......enjoy and glad I could help
