It fits between the front seats, the console starts with 2 cup holders just under the dash but does NOT connect to the dash and runs all the way back even with the back of the front seats.

Same one I got, but I noticed you have RWD as well.

I love that console, best one out of all the cars I've owned. But like it was said earlier, hold onto whatever is in the big cup holder when braking!

That looks like what i need, BUT, it also looks like it would not work due to the 4x4 shifter residing exactly where the cup holders sit. I'll call down to the local salvage yard this morning and see if they have one for a 4x4 and let you know what I find out.

BTW... Sorry to see your hit and run. May his engine blow prematurely!

I might have the console issue solved. I called the local salvage yards yesterday with no satisfaction. I then stopped by the dealer and it turns out that the "little tray" that wraps my 4x4 shifter came in another version with cup holders. $95 bucks and I'll have it in a couple of days.

I did ask about the console you have Lil, and it's an option at $200 dollars and they can't tell me if I will need the mounting hardware nor can they tell me if I will need to change anything with the seat brackets. They thought it was a possibility. With that price tag and lack of a clear direction I opted for the cheaper console.

If you have a 4WD with the large 3 cup holder console then you have the 4WD selector on the dash and it is a turn dial. There is no floor shifter with the large console. The only way to get cup holders with your application is the trim piece that I assume you bought that goes around that shifter.

Good luck!!!

I have the floor shifter for the 4wheel drive. I went to pickup the part today and the part selector app the dealer uses has the images and part numbers switched, so they actually got in what I already have (with no cup holders). After reconfiguring the parts I need, it will be way too much to justify spending for cupholders.

However, they did give me the name of the salvage yard they use and they are looking for the center console Lil posted images of. Hopefully they track one down for me.

Grats!

I just bought a Dakota 98 with 138k miles myself. You did get a good deal sence they added all that stuff in, I got mine for $4,000... It was originaly $4,900. I got a nice fiberglass customized topper with mine though, and some step rails. So I think I got a steal as well. Only problem I have is the AC not working. Its just the fan blowing but no cold air is coming out.

I have a 99 with the 4x4 shifter on the floor. But I have two cupholders that slide out from under the center "seat" I guess I would say. It pulls out towards the dash. As far as a center console I have one of those too. I guess I didn't realize that was an option, thought it was standard? You have bucket seats right? There's nothing in the center that flips up for a seat backrest, and down for an armrest? Wonder if maybe a previous owner took it out for some reason.

i have bucket seats with a center "pad" and armrest that flips up. The armrest has storage inside it. The "pad" or center seat has seatbelts too.
Under the center thing there is a opening, but there's nothing there. It looks like something could have been there at one time but i'm not sure.

Thanks for telling me about this yellowjacket! Last night I reached under that center "seat" and pulled VERY hard. To my suprise, two cup holders slid out. They are so dirty and sticky it's no wonder I never found them before. I had felt the handle on them when i bought the truck but since it didn't seem to do anything I just ignored it.

Thanks. Problem solved.

I had to spray the inside of my truck with a commercial dissenfectant because my neighbores cat sprayed my consol and that fogged up my speedo lens as well. i tried everything and finnally tried hand lotion and it did the trick. good luck as mine wasn't that severe.
