98 Dakota - AC works at first, but...
I have a 98 Dakota 3.9 V6. The AC works well for about 15 minutes (confirmed compressor clutch engaged), then the compressor clutch will not engage as the engine heats up. The low side pressure is about 35 PSI.
Seems like the fuse and wiring should be ok, since it comes on when the engine is cool.
Any ideas or could there be a multitude of causes for this symptom? Anything I should check/try?
Regards,
Rick

Run the AC until the compressor stops cycling as you described. Then disconnect the pressure switch which is usually on the accumulator on Dakotas. Use a paper clip or short wire as a jumper on the two terminals of the plug you just removed from the switch. If the compressor clutch engages again then your pressure is too low (need freon) or too high.
Give this a try and report back
After it has stopped, Open the doors and turn the AC on high, take a RUBBER mallat and bump the clutch in, like you were trying to engage it.
