Default Two questions...

First question:
When driving with my windows down and the music turned down a little bit, i can hear from the passenger side a constant chirping noise only when the car is in motion, and when i putt up next to something, liek say trees or other cars the noise gets louder since tis bouncing off the other object, so my question is does anybody know what this is and how to fix it?

Second question:
I bought my dakota about a month- month and a half ago, and about day 3 i had it the brakes started squeeking, i took the truck back to the dealership they looked at it and said the brakes were fine and sprayed something on it, and said it should stop the squeeking, well it didnt and now i always hear the brakes, so does anybody know what this could be? Do i need new brakes or what?

Q #1 does this shound stop when you apply the breaks?

Q #2 Dakota's are known for having stock pads that squeek, new ceramic pads will cure this and most likely the dealership had applied something like CRC Stop Squeek for breaks on the pads when you test drove it and after a few days it wore off.........dealships will do anything to sell a truck.

I take it you didn't get any dealership 30-90 day warranty if you did most of these things are covered but if not well other than changing the pads or spraying on stop squeek every 3-4 days is about the only choice I know of........but be assured if this is your issue your breaks function fine and are safe.....that squeek will just drive you crazy is all hehe

Q #1 yes if i tap the brake it goes away but only to come back a as soon was i let go of the brakes.

Q #2 i believe i got a warranty i dont really remember, but yes the brakes work fine its just the damn squeek makes me nuts, so you think ceramic pads should do the trick?

Yes it sounds like it is in your pads, I'd go to the dealer and if under warr. then you should have them do what is needed.....if they will do the pads pay the differance and have them upgrade to ceramic pads....if not under warranty then you have the choice of do it yourself or having a breakshop do it.....I am thinking they would be cheaper than the dealer in this as almost any shop is cheaper than the dealships.....but keep in mind it could be something missing or broken in the break assy. like dodgedakota98luver had....good luck and don't let the dealer off the hook if you have a valid warranty still.......not sure what yours is limited to but mine got me an allienment and 2 new tires no questions asked.

Yep and if for some reason they don't cover the brakes you can go to Midas and get lifetime replacement brake pads, basically it's $160 or so for the ceramic pads and labor the first time around and every other time after that you pay like $60 for labor and $0 for the new pads. It's worth it to me. I don't like messing with brakes myself. I too had annoying squeaky brakes and got rid of them even though they had half of their life left in them. (The prices above were only for fronts but I have yet to have noise from the rears)

before you take it to the dealership again, i would pull the wheel and look for your self. take a look at the pads and make sure your squealer tab isnt rubbing on the rotor. if the squealing stops when you hit the brakes your pads definetly need replaced.

I had the same chirping problem on my 01. Took it in to get the brakes looked at and turns out the rotor was warped enough that everytime it passed the pad it chirped. I replaced everything pads and rotors now no squeak, no chirp, no frustration!
