Cold air intake?
Hey guys. I have a '99 Dakota 3.9L, and I'm looking into putting a cold air intake into it. It's the cheapest & easiest way to get the most in return in terms of power & gas mileage. Anyways, I was wondering if anybody else has done this & if they have any info or suggestions for me. I'm not quite sure what I'll need in terms of parts, but I don't expect it to be much. So any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.
This is the brand I have and I love it. They make one for your 3.9l also. Not a bad price either. http://www.intenseperformance.com/pr...age/stage.html
I had a K&N in my 03 3.9L and a Airaid in my 04 4.7L of the 2 cold air intakes I have to say I like my airaid just a little better but like with most things that is a personal pref. and you always get what you pay for so all I can say is stay away from the "JUNK" on ebay.
Here is the link to the Airaid for your truck.

Go to www.rpmoutlet.com Choose dyno tuned options. I got the Jet chip ,K&N filter and Throttlebody spacer for $400 bucks. I also put on an exhaust from the cat back another $400. That really kicked this V8 in the ***. I am also averaging 20 miles per gallon. Igained 3 mpg from the first upgrade and 2 more from the exhaust . Hope this helps.
Umm you can make an intake for roughly 10 bucks minus the cost of a cone filter.
You could go to an exhaust shop, have them bend you a piece of 3" steel tubing and pay like 10 bucks for it. Then go spend 44.95 for a k&n cone style filter at and reputable parts store or even online at like summit or jegs. The only other thing you would need besides these items is a coupler to attach it to the hat that sits on the plenum. You could prolly get that wherever you get the the filter.
You could hit up a lowes or a home depot and make the whole thing out of abs pipe and grab a ferco coupler to attach it to the stock hat.
Either way you will save a bundle of cash to put towards something else and acheive the same effect as the other intakes provide.
