Default 2002 DAKOTA RT TRANSMISSION FLUID

I WAS WONDERING IF I HAVE TO USE THE MOPAR ATF PLUS 4, OR IS THEIR A SAFE ALTERNATIVE. THE MOPAR STUFF COSTS TOO MUCH MONEY!

Yes, you MUST use ATF+4. You do not have to use the Mopar brand. I know Valvoline puts out an ATF+4. As I understand, all ATF+4 is synthetic by nature.
You can use Amsoil or Mobil 1 synthetic transmission fluids.
Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, use a Dexron or Mercon transmission fluid (except for, as noted above, Amsoil and Mobil 1 will work with Dexron and Mercon applications, but, they are safe for your transmission).
My local Wal*Mart sells actual Mopar ATF+4 for $4.50/quart (I was suprize to see that, and the price isn't all that bad, either). My local Autozone sells Valvoline ATF+4 for $3.70, and Advance Auto Parts has it for $4.70.
