shifter ****

I'm trying to remove the shifter **** on my 97 dakota. It doesn't seem to be just unscrewing off. Is it something diffrent or do I just need to try harder.

you have to wedge a screwdriver in it pop out the center cap then there is a nut and you unscrew it then the handle just slides off
