U joints or wheel bearings
getting alot of rear wheel whine...
sounds like my all seasons are more like all terrains...
diff fluid just changed...looked good....
tranny flushed...shifts better..
wondering if the u joints could be culprit..maybe rear bearings...
any thoughts...

How many miles on your Dak? If you have high miles, a whine is usually ring and pinion. If it is more pronounced during acceration/deceleration but is less noticeable during coasting, it is probably ring and pinion. Diff oil can look fine but normal wear and tear on teeth will eventually cause the whining sound. Wheel bearings are more of a roaring noise and usually more noticeable when making a turn. Bad u-joints can make a clicking or clunking sound but usually not whining. [sm=pcwhack.gif]
Rear diff's are like women they'll whine for a long time before they leave you. (I don't remember what section I heard that in but it stuck with me) Olddodgedriver hit the nail on the head. That would be the first thing I'd look at. You have time but it is a good idea to get it taken care of and hell while your in there you might as well get some bigger gears! [sm=badbadbad.gif]
More towing power, better acceleration, and if you wheel at all it'll get you a lot further in rocks and stuff. The disadvantage is lower mpg. I don't know the cost of the gears though. I know they make them up to like 4.68 for our trucks though.
well I had to get my gears replaced a couple months ago and it costed me $1000 since they couldnt find any aftermarket parts I had to buy a new carrier and gears I still kept the 3.55. and I also got the tranny flushed while I was in there.
