Default clicking in the rotors

I get a clicking sound that is comming from the front rotors. it sounds like the pads are lifting and slaping on to the rotor. It happens only when I brake and turn at the same time at slow speed.

i would be surprised if it is your bakes lifting and hitting the rotor. first of all, braking would be extremely difficult and your pads would probably be worn out complately. check your upper and lower ball joints for a proper seal and lubrication. also make sure surrounding suspension components are also being properly lubricated and seals are intact.

I have the same problem with my 03 Dakota, and I suspect its my ball joints.

I plan on getting moog ball joints and seeing if this helps.

Why not just drive into a local repair shop, so many will give a break and suspension inpection for free.....yes I know they always want to replace anything and everything but nobody said they have to do the work but using them and their equipment to get a free detailed estimate is a good way to do what they have been doing to us for years.....and then do the work yourself.

Check you caliper bracket bolts. The caliper bolts to the bracket and the bracket bolts to the hub. As virused said it is almost impossible that the pads are coming loose from the caliper, the pads are constantly under pressure against the rotor. Might also be the dust sheilds behind the rotor contacting something, to be sure you will need to pull the front wheels.

Do you get feedback (vibrations or clicking) in the steering wheel. I just got my 02 and it makes a kind of creak on the way down when braking and sort of creaks on its way up when I am accelerating. Also does something similar when I turn the wheels to the left and get near the locks. Brought it to the Chevy dealer where I bought it. I told them to check the whole front end. Called me up 2 hours later and said it was the unserviceable intermediate shaft on the steering column. They reportedly greased it up. Still never went away. But they now have a steering column on order for my truck free o charge due to the warranty I got.
