Default in need of help!

i have a 2001 dodge dakota and it was running perfect til on day wen i got in it and go to take off and i had no power. the engine was running but it would take off like it was in third gear or something. wen i put it in first and shift up and work my way in to drive it seems to run fine. my tranny fluid is full and ive checkd everything i kno of. what could be my problem? Thanks!

Well it definitely sounds like a tranny problem... does the engine sputter or run funny at all?

I one had a problem like that and when I took it in I was told that the electrical plug on the tranny was all coroded and the tranny was not able to communicate with the computer. My truck was also throwing a code. I don't remember what it was though.
