Well it definitely sounds like a tranny problem... does the engine sputter or run funny at all?

I one had a problem like that and when I took it in I was told that the electrical plug on the tranny was all coroded and the tranny was not able to communicate with the computer. My truck was also throwing a code. I don't remember what it was though.
