Turbos do lag, because they are driven by the exhaust.
more exhaust=faster spinning turbo=faster spool-up.
This is why most turbos are sized to kick-into boost at higher RPMs.
Don't want them kicking in just-off idle.
Larger engines like the 5.2 and 5.9's, that already have a good bottom-end grunt typically don't see a big problem with turbo-lag, just a harder kick when the turbo kicks-in. Yes, that's still lag, but not in the same way as the old 2.2 or 2.4L daytonas that didn't have the bottom-end to begin with.
If you work-out the math, you can size the turbo(s) and collector(s) to have the boost kick-in at whatever RPM you want.
As for me, Math Bad.

You have a 98' dakota 4x2 with the 5.9 and it wont chirp the tires??? My 98' 5.2 dakota 4x4 club cab would roast em' all day if i wanted to, and that's with extra wide Khumo tires. Heck i could be going 10 mph around town and take a corner and floor it and she would kick sideways. I loved driveing that truck, it would walk all over my ram in a race, if there is any sense to race 4x4's.....although my dakota would keep up to my buddies 01 silverado 5.3 till about 40-50 mph, i was proud of that little truck maybe something is wrong with yours???
my truck has 201,000 kms on it and it will break the tires loose all day long. I can leave a stop light and give her a lil bit of gas and chirp the tires. I can go around corners sideways, and be crusin around 40-50 kms and step on it and the tires will break loose. and in the rain my truck is stupid, I broke them loose once trying to pass someone on the highway. maybe your truck just needs a tuneup.

I'm going to assume that he's got a quad cab like I do, except in 2wd. The quads seem to have a lot more weight over the rear axle. Also all of the 5.9's are autos.
On wet my truck will light up a tire all day long, but on dry it just sticks and goes.

if you want 300 plus power at the wheels, take the motor out spend 2000.00 and stroke it to a 408. this kit is killer. most mustang gts cant hang with this set up. get in touch with www.krcperformance.com and they have all these 360/408 motors already done up and dynoed on there web site. i can tell you i got a set of 206 cams for my 05 4.7 and what a big differece it made.
