rear diff

Default rear diff

when i turn i can hear gears clicking in the rear diff i was just wondering if it is supost to do that or if it needs new oil/lube. my rear axel is a limited slip

no that doesn't sound normal. put the rear up on ramps and take the axle diff plate off. get a new gasket at the local store for a couople bucks and while u have it off you'll be able to see the condition of the gears. its easey to do just scrape off the old gasket or sillocone replace the plate then fill it lastly w/ some synthetic diff oil up to the bottom of the oil hole thats covered by a little rubber cap. pretty simple task, should take about 1/2 hour.

Don't forget, since yours is a limited slip, add the bottle of friction modifier. Pick this up at the dealership, its like $8. (Some oils say it doesn't need the additives, I say, add it anyways, better to be safe than out of hundreds of dollars).

lots of synthetics have it already in them.

Clicking on a LSD doesn't sound good. On a locker, sure.

I've heard this stuff is pretty good as an additive. If you use their synthetic lube, you don't need an additive.
