Default Slippage

So I was driving home from my girlfriend's house tonight and when I shifted into Drive, my truck stayed in neutral then hit drive. As I drove it was shifting very hard and then the tranny started to slip. I pulled over and put it in park and waited a second then shifted into drive again and drove the rest of the way home and it was perfectly fine. I just had my diffs serviced (180 000 kms) so I am wondering if that had anything to do with it. BTW my truck is a 2000 Dakota with a 4.7 L on a 4 speed.
Any Advice??? Greatly appreciated!

Just curious, is the transmission fluid at the proper level? (Proper way to check: get the engine and transmission to operating temp. With the truck parked on a level surface, and the engine running, shift the transmission from park, thru all the gears [P to R to N to D] and back into neutral. Apply parking brake, and check the transmission fluid) Add only ATF+4 fluid and do NOT overfill!

I second the motion... these Mopar transmissions are not exactly the Bee's Knees...they are more of a snake on my plane
