My truck has an 8.25 rear end with 3.21 open gears. I found a 9.25 with 3.92 gears and a posi for $400. Does anyone know how difficult a swap from an 8.25 to a 9.25 is? Also, I might just buy a mini spool for the 8.25. does anyone know of a company that makes a mini spool for the 8.25? thanks

 

Is this your daily driver? If so, you're not going to want to get a spool, mini or otherwise. The 8.25 isn't all that strong to begin with, and having both tires locked together can create a problem on slippery surfaces, not to mention shred the everloving hell out of your tires. In my Ram with the welded axle I'm expecting to replace tires every 10-15k miles or so.

Does that 9.25 come with the springs as well? I'd go that route for sure. I'd love to pick up a 3.92 LSD rear end for my Dak.
