Picked up the 2002 Dakota I asked some questions about earlier.
Overall it is pretty nice. Previous owner used the truck as a truck (scratches and some rust in the bed), so it is no creampuff but it was low miles and the interior is in pretty good shape, with one exception. Indiglo gauges (I never really understood those things).
Looks like the original owner put all 55k miles on the OEM tires, so those need to get replaced ASAP, front driver's side is COMPLETELY bald. I'd say it is about 500-1000 miles from showing cords.....
I'm thinking it is in DIRE need of an alignment as well, has some pretty significant bumpsteer on irregular pavement. I'm pretty impressed with the powertrain, I've got two forced induction imports (2006 GTI and a heavily modified 03 Lancer Evolution) and this thing moves out much better then the v8 4runner I drove previously.
So question for everyone here, if I get some spray on bedliner applied, will the vendor do anything about the two rust spots I have in the bed? Looks to be surface rust...

Welcome to the forum.
Good question about the rust in the bed. It might be in your interest to ask what they could do about it. If they tell you they can/will do something to it, make sure you have a look at it after they "treat" it or whatever, but before they spray the liner over it (make sure they did something).
You should post some pics for us all to see!

I'll get some pics up after I detail it and throw some tires on it. It is the dark grey color, I don't see very many dakotas in this color, looks VERY nice on the sport with the body color bumper/grill and such.
I'd just grab some sandpaper and hit those rust spots and spray them with primer before taking it to get lined.
Also, if you've got tie-down access plugs at the front of the bed, take those out and make sure they know you'll want those plugs to work properly. Whoever owned my truck before me just had them spray right over the rubber plugs.

Use a wire wheel on the rust and not sandpaper. The rust is in the metal and needs to be fixed and not have a bandage on it. Wirewheel then use Nazal Jelly on it. The jelly will stop it from getting worst. Use a good primer and not a cheap prime. Remember cheap prime can get water under it and make more rust.

horatio, good call on the tiedown plugs. I'll make sure to make them take note of that.

I was just wondering if the bedliner people would actually take care of it or not

they probably will be able to do that but will charge you an arm and a leg. if i were you, do it yourself. that will ensure the job is done right. when rust comes into play, i am sure that you care more about the outcome of your bed than they do.
