Default Lowering

Hey, I have been thinking of lowering my 00 dakota quad cab and my buddies think that we can do it ourselves. If anyone has done it themselves, can I get a heads up to what I am getting myself into!!
Thx

It can be done. My pops and I did it in about 3 hours and that included replacing the upper ball joints.

Man, that a good looking truck! That is just what i am looking for and you have the same color too, yours looks a little better kept though. How much did you pay for your kit if you dont mind me asking? Also, are those the stock wheels cause they look good but it is hard to see in that pick.

Thanks. I bought the kit off of EBay for about $50 I think. I bought it last year. It's a 2/4 drop. The rims I also bought from EBay one at a time because I couldn't afford to fork out the large sum of money for the set. They are the stock Dakota R/T 17X9 rims. Here's a better picture.

i wish my suspension lift was as easy as it is to lower the 2wd daks. i had to use an 8 foot bar to get the springs back in and seated. [:@]

asmodeus289 - That kit that you used to lower your truck, did you use the kit with new front springs and a block kit for the back? Online, the only drop kit I could find is like $400 other than that one on ebay for $50, it just doesnt seem like enough (but then again I havve never done this).
Also, do you have and subs in your truck? I have an MTX that fits behind the back set, but it doesnt hit as hard as I would like. Just wondering what else people have done.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Just got back from vacation. Yes, the kit I bought came with front coils and rear blocks. You have to make sure that you get the right rear block kit. I had bought a kit for that was suppose to fit and found out it was for a 3 inch axle housing and my axle is 3 1/2 inches.

And nope, no subs. I haven't gotten around to messing with the stereo.... yet.

i'd personally go with shackles in the rear and control arms in the front,
simply because It is easier to align and stays that way
but I'll be going with a 3/5 drop and 22"s
as long as you have all the right tools and hardware
It's easy enough to do with a 2wd. just don't cut any corners

(and always have a car to drive to the autoparts store with)
