Default Speaker Options for the 2nd Gen Quad Cab

I want to upgrade the speakers a bit; they sound like they're coming from far away when I play stuff.

I am changing the stock 6-disc to a Pioneer Premier DEH-P780MP, with the iPod integration thing. I think as, in my previous thread, I'm gonna go with a subwoofer box of the ThunderForm, because I've found nothing else that won't compromise interior space in the cab .

Although component speakers are an option, I'm not excited about putting extra holes for tweeters and am open to Coaxial Mounted Speakers. What kind of speaker would you recommend and what size/number do I need in this truck?

Also, what about Amps...do I need just a mono amp? 2 channel, 4 channel...? I'm not going for crazy SPLs, but I know enough about amplifiers to know that if I turn up an underpowered signal, the distortion will damage the speakers more than a clean overpowered one. (I play guitar and know a little about "clean headroom.")

the stock speaker size in the doors is 6.75". adapter rings will be need for aftermarket speakers commonly sized at 5.5" and 6.5".

depending on those speakers sensitivity, you can run them off the head unit if you're not going for SPL. but definitely your subwoofer will need an amp. there is a version of that thunderform that already has an amp built in for convenient install. not very powerful, but it gets the job done
