When are they gonna bring back the shellby?
I dont know about anyone else but i was pissed that the shelby dakota was only in production for 1989. My brother had one about 3 years ago, but he traded it in! What a retard right? Only 1500 made. All b/c the trans. was slipping a lil. So he used it as trade for a '98 2wd ext. cab 5-speed dakota with spanish tires! I'm still pissed to this day! I propose a 2008 Shelby Dakota model! dodge wouldnt cooperate with shelby in the early 90's so he went to ford, i doubt he will ever go back.
my buddy has a dakota convertable, im not sure if its a shelby though

When Shelby's old boss at Ford, Lee Iacocca, took the helm at the Chrysler Corporation, he saw that he needed someone, a swashbuckler, to bolster the image of the Corporation; who better than the 'Ole Pirate from Princeton Drive, Carroll Shelby?
The first efforts were limited to stripes and decals on a Dodge Charger but it grew into a "Skunk Works" factory in Whittier, California where Shelby's buccaneers transformed Dodge Omnis, Chargers, Lancers, Shadows and Dakota pickups into pavement rippers from 1986 to 1989.
Carroll's vision of building one more ultimate performance car was heard at Chrysler and the Viper was developed with Shelby serving as the inspiration. He drove it as the pace car at the Indianapolis 500, the second time he was chosen by Chrysler for that honor. If there were 33 like cars back of him, he would have probably not pulled into the pit lane.

As lil said, Shelby is back at Ford. Was talk about him doing something for Buick, but those were just rumors. Thing to watch out for is Dodge put teh Shelby logo on cars that were not even touched by Shelby's shop. I remember seeing a Dodge Shelby Daytona being sold next to a Shelby Daytona of the same year. One is just a graphics package, one is a performance package. Had a CSX myself. Even though I really dont like FWD cars, I do kinda miss the little rocket.
