Default How to? Water Pump removal 97 3.9L V6

I need to replace my water pump but I'm not sure the removal direction of the central nut between the fan clutch and water pump pulley. I have the fan clutch wrench but the nut's tight either way you go. It's a 97 and has probably never been removed. Please Help.

Good luck that nut is a b!tch to break. There is a special tool that might be helpful. I believe it is called a spanner wrench. The pulley has holes that the wrench notches into to keep the pulley from moving while you break the nut. Have fun

It's a right hand thread-righty tighty lefty loosy. You'll need a helper with two strong hands to hold the pulley while you put a 10 inch crescent wrench on the nut, then with a 1 pound or so ballpeen hammer give the crescent wrench 2 or 3 sharp raps towards the end of the wrench in the appropriate direction. It will come loose easily with this "impact" method. Installation works in reverse of this procedure. Whatever you do REPLACE the small bypass hose while you've got it apart or you will be tearing it down again when it starts to leak!
