Default Neutral safety switch on a 2001 Dakota?

Hello,

Can someone tell me where I can find the neutral safety switch on a 2001 Dakota? My reverse lights have stopped working and it sounds like that is the culprit but I don't know where to look to check it.
Thanks!

Default RE: Neutral safety switch on a 2001 Dakota?

The location varies depending on: transmission and engine.
Manual transmissions the part is called the back-up lamp switch and is located: 2.5L right rear of transmission, all others left rear.
Automatic transmissions: 4.7L (called transmission solenoid/trs assembly) located mid-left of transmissions; 3.9L/5.9L (called transmission range sensor) located mid-left.
Note that, in the picture when it says, "... when ignition is ON..." it does not mean the engine has to be running.
