remote start
download the service manual for the wiring diagrams. as long as the remote start unit comes with its own wiring diagram, you shouldnt have a problem; just get ready to take your time. also, i wouldnt recommend putting it on a manual transmission truck.
What year is your dakota? Pre 05 if you have a gray key you need a bypass, after 05 (with keyfob on the key) 90% chance you have the chip and will need a bypass. Other than that Dakotas are a sinch. The only thing that you may have trouble with are the locks. You need to 5-wire them with a few relays.
I have remote start on mine. Was very easy to install and works like a charm. I got the viper 791, and i can start my truck about 1/2 mile away. Print out a wireing diagram from scosh or metra and get going. all you have to do is tap into the ingnition wires and tack wire, tac wire is easy to find, comes of the injection plugs, but ya. I have it on my 00' dak and i love it. Its also real fun to watch people freak out standing by your car when you start it up out of site, i do it all the time at my work. People stand by my truck when walking out to there cars and i wait till they get right next to it and start it up they look inside and there is knowone there, they look around in a daze and then feel stupid... its funny.
