Doing pads and rotors on my 02 dakota quad cab non abs 4x4. Trying to get the caliper off. Looks like 2 hex style bolts hold it on, they have dust covers around them. What the heck size are those bolt heads? 1/4 is too small, 5/16 is too big, 6mm is too small, 8mm is too big. Is it something inbetween?

 

Did you try 7mm?


Side note: When I got replacement calipers one was metric and the other was standard. [>:]

I re-used the metric ones from the old caliper and it worked fine.

 

I didn't think 7mm was a common size, I don't have that size

 

I don't think it is too common, but it might be the size you need. I think I ended up buying an allen key socket set with the 7mm in it when I did mine.

 

Kragens or Schucks (???) should have what you need at a reasonable price. thats where I got my last set (and only set).

The caliper bolt is a 7mm.
