Hey guys I am new to the forum and looking for some info. I am currently shopping for a newer vehicle and of course the Dodge dakota is the one I want. Looking at either 03 to 05 model. Q/C 4wdwith the 4.7 V8. Mostly will be used for highway and towing the bass boat to tournaments. Just wondering on any common issues for repairs or quirks with these vehicles. I currently own a Jeep Cherokee and time to change. Jeep has currently 270000KM( 168000miles) . I used to drive more off road for fishing trips and hunting but have the atv for that now. Also guys running the flowmasters are you also running as a single exhaust or are you going to dual exhausts? I love the sound of them and that would definitely be my first upgrade. Thanks.

I would personally get a 04 with the 4.7L V8 low miles as you can find....reasons....well I had a 03 V6 not enough power, 04 cuz it is the last year of Gen2 I don't care for the Gen3 myself as much as the Gen2, V8 4.7 cuz it has more power and get better MPG than the V6 becasue of the weight of the truck, the truck comes stock with 2 pipes into a single pipe then into the muffler if you are going to do headers and true duals you can do the duals of course if you are just really wanting a great sound and some performance go with a single.....most seem to like the Flowmaster 40 as do I....and it comes in a single in and dual out if the dual look is a must have for you.....good luck and welcome to the forum.

That is what I am leaning towards myself is the 04. The newer style just has not grown on me, but if the price is right I could live with it.

you could very well find a left over dakota, 05/06 they are not hard to find. i purchased my 05 4.7 cc for 22000.00 it was a 30000.00 truck. but because of the employee stuff and trading in my old truck to the same dealer i got the truck cheap. put 8000.00 down and have a bank note for 15000.00. every year i tow6 tons of wood stove pellets back and forth, from seller to various houses. these trucks have some grunt to them. i pull three tons at a time and the truck fells like theres nothing behind me.
