ok people ive had my 97 dakota 5.2 v8 auto with 198000 miles and ive had more trouble with this truck than ive had with any other truck at first it was overheating soo i changed the thermostat and it still overheated well i thought maybe napa sold my a bad thermostat so i replaced it agian and still overheated soo i started to take the motor a part and come to find out i have both head gaskets blown and both heads cracked soo i went out and got a couple of used heads outta the junk yard and clean them up.Well after i put everything back to gether i started the truck and now when it gets to running temps it starts to pop,crack, and stalls so if any of you have any info plz write back before i take it to the junkyard

 

almost 200,000 mile on it.......take it to the demo derby and trash it hehe

 

I don't suppose you've checked your timing? Done a full tune up recently?

 

Thats about the life expectancy of that engine.

 

thwy can go longer, but it may be time for a rebuild. That's a hell of a lot of mileage.
