difference 5.2 & 4.7
I owned a'91 Dakwith a 318 or 5.2 litre V8 extended cab with a 3:91 axle. Can you guystell me, is there any difference which feels more powerful or have more grunt. The 5.2 or the 4.7.
My 4x4 98 dak with the 5.2feltevery bitas "peppy" as my uncles 4x4 02 dak with the 4.7....id say they're pretty close to the same as far as which feels like it has more power:
4.7= 230-235 hp/295 torque
5.2=230 hp/300 torque
4.7= 230-235 hp/295 torque
5.2=230 hp/300 torque

The 4.7 were first made for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee producing 230HP and 295ft-lbf. The 5.2 is an evolution of the 318. It received the Magnum V8 name with new manifolds and heads in 1992. Major changes that year include the addition of multiport fuel injection, a new higher-flow valve angle, increased valve lift, and larger exhaust. Power was up to 230hp and 325tq, with 300 ft·lbf of torque, from 170hp previously. The 5.9 or called the 360, has the same block as the 318, but with different heads. It has 230hp with 325ft·lbf of torque. With the addition of a hemi in 2003 the 360 has 250HP with 345ft·lbf. And of course my engine, the 3.9 is just a 318 with 2 cylinders removed. How nice.
Check your numbers, some are a bit off.
318 = 5.2, the Magnum designation came with higher compression, better heads, better intake manifold, and a host of other changes. The 318 and 360 do not share a block, as the 360 has larger crank bearings. They're definitely related, but the casting is different. The 5.2's output was 230hp and 300lb-ft, or thereabouts. The 5.9's output was 245-250hp and 335-345lb-ft. The RT models got a minor ECU tweak and different exhaust for the extra power. All magnum 318 and 360s share a camshaft in factory applications.

No gain from the 5.9?? It's got 15% more torque and a bit more horsepower too. It's got more potential as well.
