Air rushing sound
My wife's 2001 dakota recently started a noise which sounds like high pitch air rushing into the intake manifold. Increases with rpm. When you shut the engine off there is a louder than normal of what sounds like released air under pressure. The noise seems loudest between the throttle body and fire wall at the top of the engine. Any suggestions? Will try and pinpiont the location better today.
Is it just the air going through the intake?
To pinpoint the noise, take 3 feet of garden hose. Hold 1 end up to your ear, then poke the other end around under the hood where you think the noise might be coming from. You will be able to hear the sound very distinctively when you have found the trouble spot. Once you find out where its coming from, we can help ya fix it.
Good luck!

hey man, its your IAC (idle air control valve). pull your intake cover off your throttle body and play with your throttle cable. as you open up your throttle of course the RPM will go up but if you watch the IAC valve on the backside, it should move in and out. there are also some other checks you can do through a Haynes manual. sorry so short but i just saw this and now i gott jet.
good luck
