Door Sagging.
 

I recently purchased a 97 Dodge Dakota Sport with 123k on it.

The Drivers side door sags. Any ideas on what to do?

Please go easy on me, I am a newbie.

looks like you need some new door hinges. its an easy job if theres atleast 2 people.

you should be all set, you will need a door stand or a helper to do it

Make sure that the current hinges aren't simply loose. If they are bent, you could simply bend them back to normal. Compare them to the passenger side. That would be the cheapest solution; free.

i had almost the same problem with the drivers door on my 98 extended cab it was rubbing on the door latch when it closed, all i did was put an 1/8th of an inch shim under the bottom hinge which brought the door up so that it was no longer rubing on the latch when it was closed

When you say shim...do you mean a wood shim? Where did you place the shim? I swung my 2000 Dakota front door open very hard and now the door needs to be slightly lifted 1/8 in to set the lock.

No wood will rot in the matter of months and you will find yourself doing it again. You need to shim it with a piece of metal.

Don't overlook the bushings. It might need them. Or pins as well.
