Hi everyone, my first post here so I just wanted to introduce myself first.

I'm looking to get a 2nd gen Dakota soon and I have about $5000 US to spend. (I know its not much) I know I need the extended cab cos I'm gonna be hauling motorcycles with it so I need the bed length. What I'd like to know is what should I look for with the money I have to spend? I'm pretty sure I can't afford the V8 but I'm wondering about stuff like whether I should get 4x4 or not etc.

Also, what kinda stuff should I look out for when looking at them and should I be worried about higher mileage ones?

Well, 5,000 won't take you very far in terms of getting a nice newer truck, unfortunately.

Depending on how long you want to have it, i'd try to find something that has less then 120k.

As for 4x4 and v8.. I seriously doubt you'll be able to find one with both for that price range, but both are worth it. If your ever going to be taking your truck off road anywhere, look for a 4x4.. if your mostly going to be on streets, look for a v8.

i would take you up on that offer bc mine is not a 4x4 , but im in nj and would have no way of getting the truck so sorry cant help you with that

 

You could have somone go with you and drive it back. Id even reduce the price another 200 to pay for gas.

 

that would be great but iv got no one to come out with me to get it, at least not at this point in time and even if i did really dont think i could drive both ways in the same day if anything comes up and i can come up and look at it i will let you know because that is a good deal on the truck, just for the hell of it, why are you selling it???
