02 4x4 QC Tire Size Question
Ok, I have searched all over to try and get an answer to this question......
What is the biggest tire I can put on my stock 02 4x4 QC Dakota? My truck came from the factory with 275/70R16's.
I want to put a more agressive A/T Tire on such as the General Grabber AT2. My goal is to fill out the wheel more.
How big can I go before I worry about rubbing?
I drive mostly city/highway but I do run down to the NC Outer Banks and drive in the sand to fish. My truck occasionally sees mud and snow as well. I am currently not using my truck for any hardcore offroading.... maybe one day.....
Thanks in advance!!

RE: 02 4x4 QC Tire Size Question
The factory tires you have on your truck now equate to about 31"x10.5. Actually 31"x10.83, but close enough.
From all the forums I've read that's about as big as you can go on these trucks without doing some sort of a lift.
It's not necessarily the height of the wheel well that's the problem, it's the width of it.
I've been looking into this for a while now because I'd like to put a set of 33's on my truck to get a little more ground clearance.
Looks like I'll have to spend the dough and get a 3" or maybe evena4" suspension lift if they're available.
Here's a link I've found really handy for this type of stuff....
http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html
BTW - I have a friend who has a set of Geolander A/T tires on his Commanche and he swears by them. Though I should mention I've read mixed reviews on the web.
Hope all that helps!
