i have no intention at all of doing the spray bc they are more expensive and i cant afford it, but i do intend on getting a bedliner which has an antislip coating on it so that nothing slides around in the back while i drive

while ive got this topic opened which would you guys suggest over the rail, or under the rail bedliner in this case as i am definetly going with a drop in???

I have an over the rail plastic liner that I just took out of my truck bed. Where the edge of the liner was on both sides rubbed the paint. Now on both sides where the edge was I have no paint. It's like a 1/4" to 1/2" strip of no paint all the way down both sides.

when you say on both sides do mean on top where the bedliner went over the rail, or on the bottom of the bed where it rested???

I mean on the outside of the fender area. If you look at my pic/avatar you can just barely see where the liner ends on the outside of the fender. Where the liner comes over the top and then comes down the the outside about 2 inches or so. The whole length on both side the paint is rubbed right off and in alot of spots it's all the way down to bare metal. The top of the rails are ok and the inside walls are ok but the floor on the inside also has rubbing all the way to bare metal along with some surface rust.

When your driving the wind blows the outside of the liner up and down no matter how much you clamp it down from the inside. It lifts the over the edge part up and down and it rubbes the paint right off. In the next couple of days I'll try to take a pic of then I'll try to figure how to post it in here so you can see what I'm talking about.

personally, im not fond of bedmats as they dont protect the sides of the truck and i use my truck for hauling firewood and stuff so i need the protection on the sides and i cant give my opinion on looks as there arent really alot of daks around here with over the rail bedliners, in fact i dont remeber seeing any at all, but my dad has a dak with an over the rail bedliner.

and i heard that the over the rail provides better protection on the top edge of the fender which my dad doesnt worry about bc he has the tonneu cover on his truck so the frame covers the top of his bed, but i also want something that will cover that edge.

Click the link. I put two pics of the dammage on my page. For the pics of the bedliner damage goto page 3. I took only two small pics of it but it's the same way all the way around the bed.
