Turbo
I would have to say yes. It might turn out like the Buick Grand National engine. And if anybody knows anything about those cars, they would agree, because they are bad fast.
first off. i have a 1987 buick grand national and discuss it alot on this forum. right out of the box it was fast. but after the t-12 turbo upgrade and intercooler the power was endless. but for the 3.9 you would be better of strocking the motor first to get some serious power. i was up to 19lbs of boost and it was a rocket ship. but on a stock 3.9 7 or 8 lbs max. and thats even if you have some head work done. but if you go internal you should get 12 to 15 lbs at an alarming rate.
I think you guys need to check out this thread I started out a while ago. It has some serious potential.

I agree with superdak, work will need to be done to match the 3.8 Turbo of the Buick. More power will need to be made from the stock 3.9 motor. But, I think it would be awesome to see a Dakota 3.9 with a turbo.
