Default Check gauges light

Recently my check gauges light has been coming on in my 2000 Dodge Dakota, 3.9L. It does not happend continuously, probably 3-4X in the last two weeks. Most times all the gauge readings look to be in the normal range (oil, temp and voltage), however last night it came on and the voltage read 18. The motor seems to be running fine. Any ideas? I bought the truck 6 months ago and it only had 25,000 miles on it. It is now at 30,000.

To check your engine codes:
Turn the key to ON (not start), OFF, ON, OFF, ON and leave it there. If you look in the odometer window the codes will flash any code(s) with a small delay between each result. Each code should be in a P#### format, and will say PDONE when completed - turn your key to OFF and remove. Use the OBD code list to determine what problem the computer detected.

I have a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4with 66,000and my check gauges light comes on and the oil pressure gauge does not move. I then shut it off and turn it back on and the gauge light does not come on and the oil pressure gauge moves to the normal zone. I tried checking for a code but nothing comes up. Any ideas?

Make sure the connections are being made to the back of your instrument cluster. Push forward on the whole housing and see if the problem persists.
