Default 1997 V8 3.55 rear end vs V6 3.55

I have a 1997 v8 dekota with a 3.5 ratio rear end which needs to be rebuilt. I found another rear end from a 1998 v6 dekota with 40k miles, also a 3.5 ratio. Are they the same rear ends? The v8 is s 4x4 whereas the v6 is not. Are they interchangeable? Please help.

Thanks!

I would bet yes, at least the gears on the inside. call up your dealer and check the part numbers or an interchange manual

I'm guessing there both 8.25 rearends. but it should just bolt right up. the only thing will be yours is probly posi and the V6 rearend is not. are you looking at just swapping the gears out of it or the whole rearend?

just because it's a v8 doesn't mean it's any more likely to be posi than the v6. Check the leaf spring perches to verify that they're at the same angle in relation to the pinion.
