Whats the biggest trailer/load that Dakota 4.7 owners have successfully towed and what gas milage were you getting when you were towing? How was it for power on major hills? There is a few owners that pull 5th wheels with thier Dakotas with success...one guy pulls an older 26' one with no problems with his 2000 4.7 4x4 QC.

the most i haved pulled with my 05 4.7 is 3 tons of wood pellets and a 1300 lb trailer. getting going was ok but once it got going it was fine. i just left a little more room than normal for braking. the tow / haul button came in handy. 7300lbs was at the trucks max. one thing i did notice was the back end sagged alot. which tended to make the frt end move around some.only went about eight miles and the truck did well.

I tow a 26' Trail-Lite which comes in at 4400 lbs dry with a 2003 Quad 4.7, no mods. It struggles a little on the hills but doesn't do too bad most of the time. Got 11 mpg on the flats of North Carolina, mostly around 10 net for long trips.

I occasionally tow a 16' enclosed cargo trailer that my church owns. The most I've had in it was about 5000 lbs. (combined trailer and stuff) when I moved. My truck does great with it--the only thing that slows it down is the wind resistance. I usually get about 11 mpg when towing.
I want to give our generator a try here soon. It's a 6300 lbs dual axle trailer...I just want to see how the Dakota does with that...that's a good bit of weight.
