CB?
i have a cobra 29 nw (night lights) and wx (weather stations) that i bought on ebay for about 75. added a 2 ft firestick, mount, 3" spring, homemade bracket. my buddy bought a new small cobra at walmart for about $35, used a 3 ft firestick. these are really good for trail riding where there is no cell phone reception.
I'll probably get this one

Just bid $10 for these antennas,

Another Q that needs an A
will the coax cable interfere with the RCA cables for my amp?
If I'm not mistaken there should be a Truckstop fairly close to you with a CB shop (T/A I think, right off I80). A small Uniden PC68 is a good one for under $100. on Ebaypeaked and tuned (most shops do this for about 20-25 bucks)along with a good 4' steel whip antenna and a noise cancelling Mic (RK-56)would be ideal. Steel is a much better type of antenna, it makes it easy to get your SWR's in the basement.A WilsonK40 with a magnet mount would work best as there isn't much on the Dakota to bolt onto and gives you a good ground (again this helps with the SWR's). This would be the setup I would want for a good reliable radio that'll walk the dog. Oops sorry old truckers habit.
welcome to the board!
weird kinda like huh yeap same thing that has already been said cept for the not small part of a pc 68 somtimes i wonder if ppl read before they post....[sm=happybounce.gif]

Oh I read it. I know when I'm looking for info like this I look to see how many people have the same ideas. Just backing up what you said hand. Although I'm not a big fan of loaded whips. I've always had better luck with a steel for low SWR's and a strong Tx. I guess the fact that I once melted a firestick made me that way (1000w oops did I say that out loud) I'd key the mic and my dash lights would light up in the LTL9000 I was driving at the time. I'm just an old steering wheel holder 10-4!
ah gotcha i used to tune the things, you have some toys, echo and talkback and swing in urs? i used to have a in line that would dead at .5watt and swing to 1200 it went a bit farther than 5 miles
I used to back in the day. Now in my old age I'm running a barefoot Grant and a single Wilson. I guess my foot has been shrinking asI get older. My trucks been on a diet too always seems to be under 80,000. I Just can't understand it.
well, i've got 2 4' steel whips. waiting till i can get a radio. ran into some problems so money is tight and truck hasn't moved in a week.
should i run just one whip? I thought they had to be 96" apart to function proper.
I'm mounting them (or it) between the bed and cab with some brackets to keep it steady
