Default Trans temp warning light

Today, my friend and i were in my truck driving home. And my trans temp light came on. We were plkaying around in a snowy field actually which was stupid. (one of those peer pressure moments) I am a little low on fluid because i checked it when i got home. The light was probobly on for 4 minutes or less. Could being a little low on fluid cause his?

i believe so. but remember; a vehicle can't"use" tranny fluid, it is leaking from somewhere.

did you do a recent change on it?... also did you check her properly?, in neutral, level ground, engine running for atleast a minute, or after a drive on the highway... if shes leaking fluid, pray its an oil pan bolt, blown outter seals mean tranny rebuild, no other way getting to them, buddy of mine went to 8 different transmission places about a blown seal on his truck, all said rebuild

Oh yea,it was leaking a little bit whenever i let it sit in my driveway or wherever, butonly a cuple drops came out. But now it stopped. I did drive it home from my friends hous after i let it sit for like 10 minutes. It is a 5 minute drive from his house to mine and i had to drop my friend at someones house on my way home. But,the light didnt come on. Am i safe? I'm gonna take it for a ride to see if it comes on when im driving it. I'll be filling it with tranny fluid on wendsday when i'll be with my dad.

dont drive it as much as normal until the fluid gets topped off, hopefully its just the tranny oil pan that has a leak versus a input/output shaft seal, is she 4wd?
