Default Engine turns over but doesn't fire

I pulled my truck into the garage to see if I can just pull the cat converter off and well it was welded on so while I was under their I pulled the far o2 sensor out looked at it seemed okay, put it back in, decided to pull the power from the battery off to see if it would rest the computer and give me better gas milage as I get only 8mpg, and well i go to start it and it won't, turns over but nothing happens.

Ideas?

Chris

Im pretty sure fuel is being pumped, but maybe too much if I try to start it for a little longer i can smell the fuel when i step out so I think that is fine but the spark i haven't had a chance tryed to boost it and it didn't work so im not sure.

sounds like a Crank sensor problem i'd check the wires to make sure there not melted or causing a short.

Well I pulled out the spark plugs today and they were black like oil. Any ideas on this? Oil pump gasket or something? Also does anyone have an idea on how to get the spark plug out which is behind the power steering? I can't pull the wire even off so ideas would be appriciated.

hmm mine you just have to get right up agains the little heat sheild that goes around the plug and grab the wire down there and pull staight off, usually resulting in smacking your hand on the brake cylinder, but i have never had any problems getting it off, except of course hitting my hand, but yea if should not be a problem, although you may need to pull on it really hard if it has been a while since they have been changed, as mine were a little stiff coming off the first time i did it, but as i said, not too bad
