Check your shift linkage underneeth the truck and it could be a crankshaft position sensor.

 

What would a crank sensor have to do with the truck not being able to drive itself? He's not complaining about the engine not running, but rather that the driveshaft doesn't appear to be hooked up to anything anymore.
