Paint Clear Coat Warranty??
I have an '03 R/T (Black). I just noticed the clear coat on the cab roof has started to disintegrate - 3 ugly spots!!
Took it to the Dodge dealer who said vehicle is out of warranty (4 years old and 50K miles).
The owner's manual on page 283 indicates to me that there is a "Special Extended Warranty Coverage" for Outer Panels" that extends to "5years/100,000 miles".
Has anyone had same problem and managed to solve it? Am I reading the manual correctly and shouldn't the problem be covered?
Thanks.... Tom Thompson, Pensacola, Fl

The special extended warranty is something you would of had to pay for when buying the truck. Did you buy it new? Did yourself or the previous owner purchase the extra coverage? The dealer should be able to tell you for certain using your VIN number IIRC.
The paint is my only complaint with my truck. ALL Chrysler vehicles from this period suffered from ****t paint. When I have the time I'm gonna give mine to a buddy for a full repaint. My roof and hood lost clear coat about 2 yrs ago. and it is getting worse. At this point I am debating what to do. I am thinking of removing the bed and making this a car hauler. I am sick of pulling a trailer to events.
And a pic of my recent purchase; '60 Dub numbers matching. I am the 3rd owner. first owner sold it in '00. Frame off and perfect. I paid $20K. I'm taking this one to cali. A season of shows the she's outta here, I think. Natalie really loves this one, but I want an Alpine Tiger II or a 2000 Datsun Roadster.

Nice bug! Is it all stock or did they change to a 1600 or bigger dual port, or does yours still have the original 1300 single port?

All stock 1300. The guy i bought it from paid $1500. for the car then put $25,000. into the restoration. Everything is original to the car except some of the interior panels and it is the correct color which is fairly rare. He photo documented everything during the restoration. He was bored with it and wants to built a rat rod. I got it for a very good price so I'll hold onto it for awhile and see if I came make a profit.
I have the same problem on my 2000 Dakota SLT Black. In 2004 Dodge repainted my roof at a cost to me of $100.00 which I was happy with. Now the hood and the top of the doors is doing the same thin and getting worst by the day. Now Dodge says they painted the roof as a courtisy and will not do any mire painting on the truck. I say the did it as an admitting of guilt but so far I am not winning but I will keep trying.
