Default Electric Fan Cooling Suggestions?

My 2000 R/T came with a clutch fan and an electric fan but the clutch fan went bad so i removed it and wired my electric fan to run all times and everything is good but i can't run the a/c in town or it will run hot. Should i buy a bigger electric fan (16" perma-cool about 2950cfm) and replace the old one or buy asmall 8" 900cfm fan and mount on the front as a pusher to work with the old one? The 16" draws 10.5 amps & the 8" draws 4.9 amps.

well if those are your options, then go with the biger one. I have one electric fan on my 2.5 no mechanicle clutch fan, but it is not to big and not to small, just in the midle, and I never run hot not even with the a/c. if you put two fans on there you run the risk of your truck not worming up, causing premature wear on your engine, and the heater not working well in the winter, and finally in my book, an unessesary load on the electrical system. my fan is set right now with a temp sensor, and a relay. so it only comes on at sertan temps. neat hu![>:]

The fan on it now looks like a 14 or 16" and it was wired with a temp sensor so that it would come on only when the engine reached a certain temp but that wasn't enough to keep it cool. I will wire this newfan either to a toggle switch or to come on at 185 degrees. I have a 180 temp so that should work fine. The New fan is a 14" Jegs Perma-Cool 2950cfm that pulls 9.6 amps. 9.6 amps should not be too much for that altenator, some fans pull anywhere from 25-50 amps.

Yes definatly get a larger fan. A lot of poeple (including me) are now running 18" electric fans out of Lincholn Mark VIII's. You can get them really cheap, they are dual speed and are about 4000 CFM.

I second the Mark-8 fan. I use one in my Mustang and with a blower. I've used a few different
fans with poor results. Go to the bone yard and yank one for as little as ten bucks.
New, about 100 bucks. On E-Bay, 40 to 80 dollars.
(By the way, I/ve used Be-Cool's 16" 2950 cfm rated fan as a puller. Wasn't enough,..
Bought a 14" Hayden fan and used it with the Be-Cool as a pusher,.. Still wasn't enough).
Got rid of the whole mess and went with the Mark 8, no probs ever since.
