Just updating on the final outcome.

I ended up getting the Timken HA599528 wheel bearing hubs. I also caught a steal on front and rear EBC USR slotted rotors on Amazon. Installed them all this past weekend and the change is remarkable. Changing the hubs was very easy as I didn't have to deal with front axle shafts (2WD). One big axle nut (36 mm) and off they came. No cotter pin, no nothing. Torque was 185 ft-lbs. The noise is completely gone as is the weird tracking I would get during sweeping turns. Both old bearings were dry as chip, when spun by hand.

Thanks. Looking at the steering shaft next. Not a huge deal but I get the pops while turning.

I just did mine....you may have to loosen the rack bolts if the shaft does not telescope anymore...or cut it...but there is little room to do that in the truck. its not so much getting the old one off, but putting the new one on...that telescoping feature is key....

The pinch bolt at the rack broke right off and I had to drill the old one out. luckily, its a softer metal.....

new ones give peace of mind for sure....

Do you have 2WD, or 4WD? Don't know why, but the 2WD intermediate shaft is much more expensive.

2WD....they are different...yeah....forgot about that....I think the 4wd is more common failure issue...

Eight years later and I've put 70K miles on these Timken wheel bearing hubs. I'm getting that weird shifty feeling and the steering feel a little loose and darty in wide turns, but fine on the straightaways. I replaced the upper ball joints about a month ago with no difference, so I think it's time for new wheel bearings again. Boy these things sure have gotten expensive. I guess 70K is decent but I didn't expect to be buying these things again. Ah well, better than losing a front wheel in a turn.
