I did a search and found some owners have had problems with their liftgates, but my situation is a little different with my 2006 Durago Limited.

When I push the button on either the FOB or on the panel in the car, the only thing that happens is that the lights flash twice. No beeping takes place, and the latch doesn't open.

I can open it manually. Closing isn't a problem (it beeps and lowers the liftgate as expected).

Before I schedule a service appointment (I'm going to have to anyway for this most recent recall), is there anything that I should be looking for that might hinder the door from opening?

I think I had a similar problem, was fixed with TSB 08-023-06

 

Not sure what that TSB is for, but the dealer fixed it when I took the D in for the latest instrument cluster recall. The door was out of alignment, I guess.
