Hey guys, hows it going.
I just created this name to mainly ask one question. Next week is my brothers birthday and I was thinking of getting him new nerf bars/running boards(whatever you'd like to call them). I say those, because due to a little incident earlier this year, the running board on the passenger side is destroyed.

I know he was looking at the Westin Platinum Series Step Bar. My father is the manager of an automotive store and would be able to get those for about 426. However, he found the Steelcraft Nerf bars, which are 238, including installation hardware. I tried searching on a few Durango forums, and would just like to be sure that this is a quality piece, but have not had any luck finding anything even regarding Steelcraft. Both the Westin and the Steelcraft parts are chrome(you can choose chrome or black), both are made from 304 Stainless steel, both have the "Completly rounded" style.

Has anybody encountered these parts before, or know of anyone that has? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the Westins and love them! I got mine for $200 new shipped on Ebay for the black ones.

 

Well I placed the order anyway for the Steelcrafts. Quality seems to be there, so we'll see. When it comes it'll take a closer look. If anything, if he doesn't like it he can return it and maybe have better luck finding good prices than I did. Since These Nerf Bars don't seem to be very big(I can see due to the lack of any answers) I'll let you guys know the quality.

 

Well after recieving the bars, I wasn't too thrilled with the quality. The bars didn't look too bad, but the style wasn't what he was looking for. Also, how the brackets were attached to the bars just didn't seem safe.

All in all, we've returned the Steelcraft bars, and bought the Westin Platinum Series bars. The Westins are amazing quality, and were installed today.

 

That's great info. I have never heard of Steelcraft until this post and I've always been into truck accessories.Probably a wise choice to return them

 

Ya, I think it was definatly the right choice. I thought at first that maybe no one had seen the thread, but I guess it's just because no one has them[sm=laughat.gif].

Well either way, I hope this helps anybody else that happens to wonder upon this Steelcraft brand. Westin>Steelcraft!
