Towing mods 2004 Durango Hemi
I have 04 Durango Hemi and want to fine tune for towing. I'm looking for suggestions on intake and exhaust. I prefer that I not make the car too loud if possible. Any and all ideas are appreciated. Thanks!
I wouldn't worry about changing the exhaust, I have seen a lot of exhaust mods that end up causing a loss of low end torque and hole shot. What do you plan on towing? I tow a 6000 lb boat and the hemi does a fine job with it. The stock spring and shock combo on the 04 Durango is the weak spot, so if you are going to make any changes your money is best spent there. You will be a lot better off shifting your attention to your trailer, make sure it is riding level with your hitch/back bumper. If the trailer is not riding level it will put a lot of strain on your truck. Also surge breaks are a good idea for trailers over 3000lbs and if you alreay have them, make sure they work and aren't leaking.
I will be towing a Travel Trailer that will have a gross weight of a hair under #5000 with about a 600-700# tounge weight on a weight distributing hitch of course. Tack on another 700# for my army of passengers in the Durango. I have factory Class IV Tow package. I moved my #3500 trailer the other day without hooking up the spring bars on my hitch and the affect on rear end altitude was barely perceptable. Any recommendations on the shocks?
Thanks
