OK so when I bought my 2004 Durango, the key had the remote to the keyless entry and built into it. Does any one know if I buy a aftermarket car alarm system, if they can program my Original Dodge remote to control the new alarm system?
P.S. The new Dakota is just a 2004 Durango with a bed instead of a area for the 3rd row seats!

 

they can not program an aftermarket alarm to function with the OEM remote... Not only that but to have the aftermarket alarm work properly they have to disable the factory alarm. Aftermarket alarms work differently than does the stock alarm system and I found out the hard way that they can not work together.

I could be wrong but I tried to get this done, went to 3 different shops, no one could do it, and no one could get them to work with both active, at least not properly...
